Top 6 Games Of 2013

So turns out that blogger is sucking donkeys in the save department. For some reason autosave did a self-destruct to the point where I couldn't even undo my nearly completed list. So fuck it, let's be a whiner and not be as detailed as before. Because I'm pissed and butthurt, so deal.

So Top 6 Games of 2013. People are doing that now. Let's do that. No, February is not too late!

AMV Files - Sovngarde Song

Don't mind me as I play with the formatting, not only for the actual blog but also the organization of the AMV Files articles. Trying to make them more organized as opposed to just vomiting information everywhere.

So, here's how things go when writing these things. I usually get them done in one of 2 ways:

  1. I lack the motivation, time, or energy to edit, but I have an idea floating around. So I use these to brain dump to show off the idea, keep tabs on thoughts, and maybe even give me the muse to get started.
  2. Pretty much the same as #1 except I'm already in production and I'm stuck or otherwise have free time (like waiting for an upload or render to finish).
See, the last few AMVs I did didn't allow me to do either. The processes have been pretty short and relatively uneventful, which means I'm behind on 3 of them. So, let's waste no more time and look at Sovngarde Song!

AND NO MORE WE'LL BE SILENT

Top Dozen Favourite Games

As one final send-off to Gexup and his departure from the internet, a lot of people in his Boochow Radio Podcast decided to do their own favourite game lists (as the game list is going to be his last entry). I had this lying around, so for the occaision I dressed it up a bit and salvaged this old project. I also changed it to 12 instead of 10 in Gexup's fashion (which helped because I had way too many).

So...favourite games evarr? Sure, why not?

5 Reasons Why I Hate Sly 4's Plot Twist

I'm going to level with you guys and say most video games aren't well written. You have the rare masterfully crafted Silent Hill 2s or Bastions, but I can assure you that Sucker Punch's Sly games are nowhere near that level of excellence. They're charming, cute, witty, and stylish, but not quite there on a level of storytelling. Still, they played to their strengths and struck a fascinating niche in my heart as some of my favourite games. However, I started to look at them more fondly after playing Sanzaru's sequel, Thieves in Time, especially after a plot twist roughly 2/3 through the game.

Naturally, if you don't want to be spoiled, you should turn back now and cut your loses by knowing shit goes down about 2/3 of the way through.

Sly 4 Demo Pre-Show

Ok, I was going to save this for my PS2 Big 3 series, but since the topic of this is coming in a few days and Sly 4 would be somewhere in the middle (...and I haven't started recording), so I guess I can get this over with.

This blog entry is to act as a pre-game show sort of thing. The Ratchet and Clank collection is coming out August 28th. Apparently this remastering is pretty damn buggy, but there are 3 reasons why I want it. #1, it's freaking Ratchet and Clank. # 2, the game ported the multiplayer from Up Your Arsenal. # 3, it was recently announced that the Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time demo will come with the North American release. I know a million people will do this, but depending on my work schedule (seems I'll have the morning to myself so far) I'll play the demo the day my game arrives, record it all, and give a commentary. I have no idea what it will include, and I'll go in 100% clean. I thought it might be fun, though also Possk will be pissed if I don't.

The AMV Files - Voice Of The Journey

HEY, REMEMBER THIS? :D at least I do

Anyways, this is an idea originally expanded on by a previous post on a future Shadow Of The Colossus video. Since I have graduated from college, I wanted to edit something fresh that I haven't done before. A SOTC video came to mind, but then again I had so much confidence in it that I wanted to submit it to Anime North 2013 for a laugh. However, if you wanted to submit a video to them in the contests, you'll need to have it premier at a certain time (usually around October/November of the previous year). Not sure why so picky (especially since some people don't edit often), but no matter. This was my second idea, which follows something similar...

Thinking About Amnesia

Ok, so Blogger has decided it doesn't like it when I log into Youtube at the same time. Oh well. Allow me to aimlessly brain dump on something that has been on my mind the last week or so. At least I'm barely in time for Halloween by 15 minutes. Aw ya, go me!

To be honest, I'm not a very brave person. I'm afraid of heights, uncomfortable around deep water, and absolutely petrified of doctors, hospitals, and many times of neurological drugs (no need to remind me of the irony of being a vet tech student and how I use needles and drugs all the time. I think there's something morbidly wrong there). There are also several social phobias, but best not to get into them. When I'm alone in the house at night and hear a creaking noise (this house is old by the way) I usually come down the stairs armed with a folding chair. However, I'm also not afraid of blood or gore in the least (being a chronic nose bleeder and...a girl). In fact, I find it fascinating. I like to feel the bones (particularly skulls) of creatures, and outside of the HORRIBLE smell of formaldehyde I'm usually ok to dissect cadavers. That being said, also as a vet tech student, we learn a fair amount about stress and fear (not only in finding out our CLP marks). It's part of the job since it not only affects the behaviour of an animal (ie cats, cats, CATS), but also their biology. It affects the workings of the organs, releases hormones, potentially alter the efficacy of drugs, and even affects white blood cell numbers almost instantly. However, my relationship with the horror genre is a rather shaky one. I tend to approach the idea of horror at a strange angle of someone who doesn't like to be scared but likes to look at the IDEAS behind being scared. It's pretty much hiding behind a thick sheet of glass and studying a monster.
